Rules
Naturally, we want to keep this a fun game. Yet to do that we need some rules in place. So here are the ten rules of our game:

~Follow role play etiquette: Treat everyone in the game with respect; No godmoding, godplaying, or power playing (moving another person’s character, describing an emotion or expression, not previously stated, without permission); No metagaming (your character knowing something they, by rights, shouldn’t or couldn’t know.); No IC to OOC drama (leave your character’s problems with another character between the characters. Just because someone plays a jerk character, doesn't mean they're a jerk ooc); No OOC to IC drama (leave your problems with another player out of your character).

~You must have a good understanding of the Harry Potter Universe: There will be spoilers from all the books throughout the game. If you haven't read all the books, you must know all the key events from them. Especially who died, alliances, ect as those things effect the next generation.

~Use proper grammar and spelling: Everyone makes mistakes every now and then. A typo or a wrong word once in awhile is acceptable. However, you are expected to spell check and proof read, and try to use proper grammar. No one is perfect, but most things can be caught if some time is taken before a comment is posted. Constant spelling mistakes, typos, or just unreadable posts make the game a little less fun for everyone else and are simply unacceptable.

~This is an adult RP: That doesn’t mean any and all themes are okay, simply because some things are better left un-played, but it means that sexual themes (as long as the thread is marked NC-17, behind a cut, and friends locked), swear words or references to drugs are. If you are offended easily by any of these things then this isn’t the place for you to role play. We would suggest you find a nice PG HP board. :) As for sexual themes, please be realistic. Don't make every thread you play in NC17.

~Role play posts are to be in third character, past tense at all times. Speech being the exception to this, obviously.

~Journal posts should be in first person, past tense. Unless your character refers to themselves in the third person … but that's a whole other can of worms.

~RP posts must have six sentences (speech is included in this count) at least: Please take the time to write as much as you can. I know sometimes its hard to do more than six sentences, but we don't want to see a hundred posts turn up that have the bare minimum (A sentence finishes in a full stop, question mark, or exclamation mark as far as we’re concerned - and that doesn't mean you can get away with six three word sentences). If you're having problems then tell us about what your character is thinking/feeling, what the situation reminds them of, what they notice about the other chars and how that makes them react/feel, or give them a random movement/action. This is reasonable as other boards I've seen ask for twelve (non spoken) sentences for every post. Now if you fall short of this, we’re not going to come after you with a whip. But if you do it regularly, you’ll probably receive a PM reminding you of the rule.

~Be active: Its what keeps things moving, alive, and fun. If you're applying, we expect that you have enough time to write with us. So, how active is active? We ask that you show a sign of activity once every two weeks. That can be a journal (a single line to several paragraphs) or a new thread. If you do more than this, of course, we’ll love you for it.

~Don't take things too seriously. The game is meant to be fun. Joke around, write witty things in your posts, make fun of the world and your own character every now and then. Also, remember that even if a character is like a TV character and has the same PB, they are not the TV character. There will be differences. So try not to assume too much; it makes the game less fun for the players of those characters. Lastly, OOC drama is not acceptable. If you have a problem with another member you can‘t sort out between yourselves, start by sleeping on it. A lot of problems seem smaller after you step away from the game for a time. If its still an issue in the morning, talk to one of the admin. We’re here to help and always have time to mediate when and where needed.

~Understand that your application may be rejected: If you can’t handle this, please, don’t apply. Yes, we know that sounds a little harsh. However, its an admin headache when applicants demand to be in the game, yet lack the writing skills to form a sentence. Remember, writing with any group of writers is a privilege, not a right. To be fair to everyone else in game, we do need our new members to have a good command of the English language.
