What's in the name
My name is Armelle Baylen, a 21 year old female from the "Pearl of the Orient", the Philippines. Since birth, I know my name is unique, since my dad invented it. He told me that my name, Armelle is a combination of his name and my mom's. I used to hate it. When I was little, I was always mistaken for a boy because of my given name therefor I thought of it as ugly. Second my other siblings have two names, mine, I got only one. Sigh!
As I grew older and some genius developed Google and the internet, I found out that my name is French! Nice huh? Super!
Now I am thankful that my name is unique and one of a kind!
According to http://www.frozenmagma.com/baby_names/a lpha.php?alpha=l my name Armelle is a french word meaning princess and my sirname Baylen is a French-American word for auburn hair.
Makes me wonder, I know I am from a Spanish, Vietnamese, Filipino decent, would french add up to it? I wish I knew my family tree so I can trace my roots. Unfortunately, my mom is an orphan so I never got to know my biological grandparents on her side.
So, what is the etymology of your name?
