~So, as of this moment, three of y'all have kicked in $71 which covers 42% of May's hosting. This is a Good Thing.
Honestly, it feels creepy to me having to wheedle cash out of you guys. I really wish we could just pony up the bread ourselves. CJ is not about making money and we're perfectly happy to break even. Hitting you guys up for cash feels so...commercial. Ick.
But we still have to operate in a Kapitalist Plutocracy, so No Dough, No Go. And we have had to Tap The Plastic too many times - broken eyeglasses, a very sick kitty, a bad tire – and our lil pad is now tapped.
However, if y'all keep up the above good works, we'll be fine for May. And we hope to have a far cheaper host toward the end of this year. *crosses fingers* I would be a shame if CJ crapped out before that happened.
Since Le-Le [aka ![[info]](http://www.commiejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) shamangirl] is the Principal Code Monkey – putting the URL in the href is purdy much the limit of my coding talent – I'll be keeping up the “We Need Money” drumbeat and I'll repost this post until we make the rent.
But here's an idea:

I know you have a buck. I mean, dude, really...you gotta have a freakin' buck! Okay, now take that buck, wrap it in a piece of paper, beg/borrow/steal an envelope and stick said paper wrapped buck in said begged/borrowed/stolen envelop, slap a 41 cent stamp on it and mail that sucker to:

As of this moment, there 2246 members of this community alone. Even if half of y'all did the above deed, our shit would be Golden and we wouldn't have to bust your chops about cash. And I'd much rather be out on Dar Intarwebz causing trouble for the fascists and plutocrats than be here hassling you guys for money, ya know.
PS Addressing the issue of advertising; Once you become beholden to advertisers, you get attached to their agendas [and fears] and become vulnerable to harassment by groups like the religious lunatics that provoked the Great Strikethrough last year on Live Journal. That event is the specific reason for Commie Journal's existence and the source of our iron clad No Ads Ever policy

Stupid question, because I know it's been addressed previously, I just don't know where to find said info.... if we wish to mail in cash as a donation/to pay for a paid account, we'd just need to provide the username for it to be applied to, yes?
If you go to the Purchase link in the Links List on the main page, there is a place where you can fill out a form for accounts that you intend to send in the money for. Please use this form - that way you and I both will have a record of you paying for an account via the US mail :)

sadly that's not true here, i know the living close to the bone thing,..and for the next couple of months i'm existing on calcium, yeah the important services are paid ahead and the larder is full,.. but that won't help your cause,.. which i support in my heart,..but right now my wallet isn't any use,..

Sort of related, sort of not... But the front page that lists how far you are from the goal? How should that be read? The meter says $71, but there is a number below that is growing as well. Are those two numbers meant to be added together, and that's the total of what you've received so far?
Also, I would contribute, but I'm also broke for the month and will be until I get my (measly) paycheck on the 30th. It's the price you pay for having no medical insurance and a daily prescription to take. If I had the money to dish out monthly to help you guys, I would do that! But it's simply not there for me to do so. I bought a permanent account, and that was stretching myself farther than I should have. But I truly love the site and what you offer.
My concerns come from the fact that I don't want to be turning around every month wondering if I'm going to lose everything I have on this site (which includes an RPG my friends and I have been writing in for about three months now) because the bill wasn't paid, while I am truly helpless to stop it or be of service. That's just a bad feeling all around, and I would like more of a guarantee that I won't be forced to move everything to another site (which I truly don't want to do but may have no choice in) or simply kiss all the writing goodbye.

Keep going. We're close enough for gubmint work and are good for May, though I shall keep bugging folks for cash. And I'll start in next month around the 15th. =)
